Leading truck drivers as well as the trucking community to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith

CHAPLAIN PAUL AND EDNA CAIRNS
Serving Crossroads Chapel – Chilliwack B.C.
February 2011

Ephesians 3: 19-21 has become our prayer for 2011.To know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. To Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end.

Dear Friends and Family,
Warmest greetings from our home to your home, to our special family, friends. supporters and prayer partners. We continue to marvel at how faithful God has been in supplying our every need in Christ Jesus.
This is only made possible by people like you who have faithfully given, encouraged, and prayed for us and the ministry at the Crossroads chapel. Because of you our Chapel still stands as a lighthouse in this dark world introducing men and women of the trucking industry to the light of the world, Jesus Christ our Lord.
It is hard to believe that we will be completing our 2nd year with the ministry of TFC at the Crossroads Chapel. We cannot begin to tell you all the great things that have happened in 2010, but we’d like to share a few of them with you...We had a number of drivers accept Christ as their Saviour for the first time and many came for prayer of rededication, for encouragement and sometimes just a safe person to talk to.

Here’s what a few of the chaplains had to say in their chapel log:
Chaplain Bill, very good time of sharing and praying with a driver.

Chaplain Mel, a young couple came in. Just new to the world of trucking. We talked about Jesus then we prayed together. The Lord is sure good. Ray from Saskatoon came in to visit.

Chaplain Harry, Larry came in needing prayer for his job. We enjoyed a time of fellowship and prayer after I read from the 23 Psalm.

Chaplain Marvin, Devon from Manitoba came in, had a word of prayer with him. A driver from WPG stopped in. Health wise he was in bad shape and needing pray.

Chaplain Henry, Henry was beside himself when the French driver he had led to the Lord in January stopped in to see him and to let him know that he was still walking with the Lord.

Chaplain Corky, Bruce stopped in to visit. Before leaving he thanked Corky with these words. May the Lord bless the ministry of TFC and all it’s Chaplain’s. and that the Lord will give a special blessing on this chapel.

Often when a driver comes into the chapel our job is to listen, encourage and pray with them. They come from all walks of life, often lonely, marriages are in a mess or sometimes they have financial struggles. Only with the Lord’s help are we able to be a light in the darkness.

Monthly mixed Breakfast in Chilliwack
Here are just a few Programs that take place outside the chapel throughout the year. We now have a monthly mixed breakfast in Chilliwack at the Pantry Restaurant, 45466 Yale Rd W. This breakfast takes place on the first Tuesday of each month at 8:30 am. All are welcome.

Family
On a more personal note, our family is keeping well. We have been blessed with good health this last year.
Our oldest daughter Lisa and husband Christian are expecting their 4 child in August. Our second daughter Paula and her husband Eddie are expecting their 4 child in September. We are very excited to be growing our family again. Our third daughter Cherylynn will be graduating from the University of Calgary with her
Masters in Social Work. Way to go Cherylynn. Our Fijian son Patt and his wife Stephanie have announced that they will be adding twins to their family in August which brings their number to three. Our Little Ruebs who is also our Fijian grandson in Australia just turned 2 and is doing well. How Great Is Our God!!

Many of you have asked about our personal support. We need to raise $3,000.00 a month to become fully supported which is our prayer for this year. Please help us pray that God will raise up businesses and individuals who will stand behind us on a monthly basis in this ministry.

Leading truck drivers as well as the trucking community
to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith

CHAPLAIN PAUL AND EDNA CAIRNS
Serving Crossroads Chapel – Chilliwack B.C.

August 2010

Dear Friends and Family,

One year has passed since we started serving with Transport For Christ as fulltime staff couple.
We would like to share with you some of the things that have been happening in this last year.
We had three fundraising banquets, two in Chilliwack and one in Abbotsford. We also had a Corn Roast
last September at the chapel. One truck driver accepted the Lord at the Corn Roast.
We have two Men’s Prayer Breakfasts, one in Abbotsford and one in Chilliwack, and we will be restarting the Hope Men’s Breakfast this fall.
These events have been paramount in sharing the ministry and our vision for the ongoing work of the Crossroads Chapel. Through these events the community, as well as those in the trucking industry, have a chance to hear what is going on and also have an opportunity to support the work.

The Lord continues to bless beyond what we can envision with our human eyes. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the interest, love, and faith you have had in us.

Here are a few log entries made by our chaplains since January:

Chaplain Henry (January 1): “A truck driver from Quebec came in and, even though we were quite inhibited
by a language barrier, Christian made a definite commitment to Christ. What an amazing way to start the New Year.”

Chaplain Gerrit: “Scott came in and I was able to minister to him. He shared his life and problems.
When he left he said how much he appreciated being refilled and recharged.”

Chaplain Ken: “Arrived at the chapel feeling good. The Lord is so good. I can sense His presence in this
place. Glad to be in His service. Talked with Ron, new Christian, quit smoking. PTL.”

Chaplain George: “Grant dropped in for encouragement, many problems; we read scripture, and I listened and prayed with him.”

Chaplain Dave: “Stopped to talk to a driver parked next to the chapel. He came in and said, ‘I was at a crossroads in my life; can I share with you the big mess I am in?’ He shared his story.
After I shared Philippians 4:4-9 he was in tears and said he felt better already. We talked for a while. I gave him a Bible and prayed with him. I’ll meet him for breakfast tomorrow.”

Chaplain Paul: “Saturday, August 14th, I witnessed to John, a truck driver from Calgary. After I shared
from Luke 15:11–32, he received new life through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. He knew his boss was a
Christian and wanted the same thing. He has been struggling with different things, and needs our prayers.
He had no background in the faith, so I showed him how to use his new Bible and where to start reading.
Also gave him a Bible study and other reading material. We serve an amazing God. So far this year
we have had seven others received Jesus as their personal Savior.”

We had our first Sunday morning service with three truck drivers and a young fellow that walked in.
He worked in a warehouse and wanted tracts to give to the truck drivers.

The Lord has blessed us with nine volunteer chaplains who are so faithful in their service to the Lord.
We will hear from Marvin, Corky, Bill and Mel in our next news letter.

We appreciate you so much! May the Lord reward you richly. We are very excited to be a part of what
is going on at the Crossroads Chapel here in Chilliwack, BC.

On a more personal note, for those of you who may not know us personally:
We have three daughters who are keen in their walk with the Lord. We feel well blessed and very humbled. Our eldest, Lisa, is married to a high school science teacher. They have three children, Lukus (3),
Amelia (2) and Caitlin (6 months old). They live in Sydney, Australia.

Our middle daughter, Paula, is married to Eddie. They have three daughters, Moriah (7), Gabby (6) and
Ellisha (4). Paula is a midwife and Eddie is finishing his Bible College training. They are preparing for
fulltime mission work. They also live in Sydney, Australia.

Our youngest daughter, Cherylynn, is leaving Abbotsford at the end of August for University of Calgary.
She will be finishing her Master’s in Social Work. Pray that she will have the strength to excel in her studies. She also enjoys serving the Lord with her music.

Edna and I still do some painting and Edna also works as a casual at Menno Home, in the laundry and
housekeeping department.

May we be faithful in the service that God has called us to. We are asking you to partner with us in prayer and financial support to keep the chapel running (this includes literature, Highway News and Good News magazines, and Bibles) and also to meet our day-to-day needs.
We are very excited about this opportunity to serve the Lord.
